Prumo, the company responsible for developing Porto do Açu in São João da Barra (RJ), and Geo bio gas&carbon have formed a partnership to install a biogas generation plant at Porto do Açu.
This is Geo's first project aiming at defossilizing industries with challenging emission reduction. The proposed plant is expected to have the capacity to produce 140,000 Nm³/day of biomethane from energy crops (power grass) cultivated in a recovery area nursery. The operation at the plant will result in methanol as the final product, promoting a green route for industrial fuel production.
The project is currently in the study phase until 2025, with operations expected to commence in 2027.
